The Lost Lectures

A little love for fish.

In her fascinating talk, Helen shares a wealth of marine behaviours and discusses why some are far more favourable than others when trying to gain the sympathy and support of the human species: from whale songs to migration highways to glow in the dark sharks, she takes us through these magical displays in a quest to promote connections between us and them, learning to respect these creatures whether they be weird or wonderful!

Speaker Helen Scales

Dr Helen Scales: is a marine biologist specialising in the international wildlife trade, marine protection and biodiversity assessment: she’s also a diver, broadcaster and author of Posseidon’s Steed (a book about the noble seahorse). She’s spent four years chasing big fish in Borneo and another year cataloguing marine life surrounding 100 Andaman Sea islands, she’s drunk champagne with David Attenborough and talked seahorse sex with Diane Rehm. She also has a surname that is rather fitting for a marine biologist.
